It has been one week since we have completed the Prairie Thousand.  We have spent some time relaxing, catching up on emails and paperwork and basically getting ready for the fall season.  I would like to know from everyone that reads our blog if we should continue the blog, add more social media platforms to our repertoire (to reach more people) or if we should just leave it with Facebook and this blog.  
On Sept 3, Rob will be in Winnipeg for surgery on his shoulder so his cycling year is over.  He is also awaiting a date to have surgery on his knee.  This is going to determine the viability of a P1K ride for 2025.  Stay posted and we will update as we can.
But, the best news to date is that we are less than $600 away from our goal for this year!  less than $600 to reaching $100,000 over 4 years.  This is HUGE and we have all of you to thank!!
And than you to everyone that has supported us this year.  It's a wonderful comfort to know we are not alone in our passion to help people with PTSD (Operational Stress Injuries) get a dog and get back to functioning in society.  You people, all of you, are amazing!!!

Alright, so we started in Edmonton on Sunday and so much has happened this week!!  We found out that Highway 2 on a Sunday is terrifying (compared to what we knew before we moved away in 2012), small towns and cities are awesome, Calgary stepped up when needed, Legions are incredible, and it's never a bad time to see one's best friend (they step up too!! <3).  We are safely in Medicine Hat today and will be saying goodbye to Alberta in the morning.  The MHPD will be escorting us out of the city in the morning and then we start the second half of the tour.

It is day 2 of the Prairie Thousand and we had a start that we are not used to.  On Day 1 we did not anticipate the VOLUME of traffic on a Sunday morning on the Henday in Edmonton and all the way down Highway 2 to Lacombe.  It was sketchy at times!  We did, however, make it safely there and a cousin hosted a lovely family BBQ for us.  
Day 2 started off much more calm and relaxed.  By 8:30 we had our camp packed up and Rob was on the road.  We are enjoying the encouraging comments on Facebook and invite you to leave a comment here as well.  Rob kind of gains energy from it.

This morning we had a fantastic meeting with the CO and RSM of CFB Edmonton.  Col Dove and CWO Drolet welcomed us warmly and encouraged the good work that Wounded Warriors Canada does for veterans, First Responders and their families.  They understand the importance of a wholistic approach to treatment not only for the sufferer, but also for the families that are affected as well.  It is so good to hear this kind of sentiment from those that are aware of what their troops live with.  Thank you Col Dove and CWO Drolet!

Let the craziness begin!  We had a very smooth drive from Manitoba to Alberta today.  Started off windy and very cool, ended up sunny and calm.   We have several appointments over the next couple of days and we are anticipating a wonderful time in Edmonton before we head out on Sunday morning.  We hope there will be a few people able to pop up to the base OR watch for Rob on the WEST PORTION of the Henday from ~9:15 to ~10:30 Sunday morning.  Cheer him on and spread the word!!
